Maud May Babcock Readers’ Festival

Maud May Babcock, in 1872, at age 23, came from the east to the University of Utah. Her communication skills touched the lives of senators, governors, mayors, educators, media and film personalities as well as students next door. In 1980, generations of her former students established
The Babcock Performing Readers. Today, 150 years after her arrival in Utah, the Babcock is celebrating its 40th season. The event unites The Babcock Performing Readers and The Canyons Readers Theater. The occasion includes a display of historical productions from one of Miss Babcock’s textbooks. Her techniques of oral interpretation are still active along with her favorite purple attire. Join the walk down an impressive “Memory Lane.”

The performance will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Whitmore Library in the Whitmore Meeting Room (Basement), 2197 E. Fort Union Blvd., Cottonwood Heights
